I love you (but you're boring)

On days like today when it's dreary outside and I'm feeling the weight of many dark and dreary days to come, it helps to check in with old friends. Dear Martin, how I love you. Nobody but nobody knows how to cheer me up quite like you do. (From Bored Couples)

Boekie Woekie

The countdown is officially on to the Great November Escape '08. After we hit the nearest Febo (it's de lekkerste don't you know), we'll be making a beeline straight for Boekie Woekie. Possibly the best artist-run artist book store in the world. The world, I tell you, the world!

one last bouteille call

Dilemmas. We all have 'em. Elaine Benes' was assessing the spongeworthy.

Mine is finding just the right occasion to pop the cork on my last bottle of Bonny Doon Bouteille Call, the elixir that some have described as "not so much a wine as a call to action, an entreaty, an appeal to reacquaint oneself with the pleasures of the sensual world."

On the one hand, it seems a sin to neglect a perfectly good Bouteille Call. Then again, it could be years before the next one comes along....

my man nic

For some people it was Ansel Adams. For others, Dorothea Lange.

For me it was Nic Nicosia.

If bees had knees

Sarah McKenzie's fabulous piece, "Site".

(In case anyone's wondering what to get me for Christmas...)

faking it old school-style

Even from my remote neck of the woods, it's hard not to notice the faux-bois renaissance that's been sweeping the blogs to the big box stores. While I love a woodgrain doormat / shower curtain / small paul backpack as much as the next lumber jill, why not look to the old-school stuff instead of the cheap mega-store made-in-china throwaways? Ahem .... it's (k)not wood folks, i'm talking to you...

when you need something to offset all those trees...

...why not consider adding some industrial elements to break up the monotony of an uber-natural setting like we did with an easy-to-apply wall sticker from Ferm Living.

Serenity now.

wehringer for art thou?

A few of my favourite things. Anyone out there have a wehringer of your own?
